Jay-z said he was a “businessman” and was not joking. His net worth is $810 million, and his career has expanded to include sports, artist management and streaming. But the secret of his deception is something you might not have imagined: treatment.
In a recent interview with the New York times, the musician confessed that he had received traditional treatment in addition to the new album. It helped him become a thinker and leader.
I’ve grown a lot from this experience. But I think the most important thing I get is that everything is interconnected, “jay-z said in an interview. Each emotion is interrelated and it comes from somewhere. And realize that. Realize that it’s in your daily life that you’re in this… You are in such an advantage.”
He adds that broadening his perspective helps him understand where others come from, even if they are racist. “I don’t have an angry response, I can offer a soft landing, maybe, ‘oh, man, are you okay? ‘”‘ “he said.
What jay-z describes is empathy. There is a variety of evidence that a healthy empathy, helped in the treatment process, has been successful in the workplace. In business, stress can be debilitating. Research shows that stress and mental health are responsible for more than half of the loss of jobs each year. A 1990 study of medical students training in empathy, found that those who learn more sympathetic to communicate with others in difficult circumstances, lower their stress levels is, in fact.
Science is a little counterintuitive. People often think of empathy as the pain of feeling someone else. In fact, recent research has shown that emotional empathy — in other words, consumed by the feelings of others — can be psychologically damaging. But those who are sympathetic, allow more distance and have a positive response, where they can help others solve problems. That’s what jay-z says, and he says he “can make a soft landing for him” after receiving treatment.

Research shows empathy is also key to being a successful leader. Sympathetic leaders are more likely to participate in their reports, and unfair bosses are more likely to see their employees leave.
This is what many prominent business leaders preach. Bill and Melinda gates urged Stanford graduates to practice empathy to solve the biggest crisis facing the world today. Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s chief executive, argues that “empathy drives the power of everyday behaviour”. Jeff bezos believes that even if you have all the possible wisdom, you still need to connect with others to succeed. When explaining what made her talk show so popular, oprah winfrey explained, “I have to learn to feel and be empathetic… I feel when I’m with you. This not only means that I can walk in your shoes, but my heart beats as well as yours. I see myself in you. She thought she had hosted the show “my biggest therapy” for years.
It is not surprising, then, that treatment and its branches have become more valuable in the typical corporate sector. In a report, the world economy, BBS, predicts that emotional intelligence will be one of the top 10 skills by 2020. Empathy training has become the hottest new trend in the leadership class, and companies offer courses in the hope of getting better results.
They might do something. From Jon hamm and gwyneth paltrow to J.K. rowling, the giants of business and creativity talk about how therapy can help them overcome their emotional struggles and become stronger. (rowling says she even had to undergo treatment to cope with her overwhelming success.) Jay-z is the latest on the list. When he was close to $1 billion, he looked better than ever.
